Large items are objects that are too big to fit safely inside the dumpster bins in Presidio. These items should not be left inside dumpsters, next to dumpsters, or on the street, as they will not be picked up, plus they don’t look good out there.
Some large items can be placed in dumpsters only if they are fully broken down into smaller pieces. If you cannot or do not want to disassemble an item, the safest option is to take it directly to the Presidio Landfill.
Leaving a large item inside a dumpster bin is not recommended for multiple reasons. 1: It takes a lot of space. 2: The item will not be picked up and will be left on the side of the dumpster. 3: You’re giving extra work to our Waste Collectors.
You can go and throw trash into the Presidio Sanitary Landfill for free; you will just need to bring your water bill, otherwise you will have to pay to throw your trash.
Below is a small list of items that should be thrown directly into the landfill:
Furniture (couches, desks, dressers, tables)
Mattresses and box springs
Playhouses and large outdoor toys
Patio furniture
Construction materials (drywall, sheetrock, wood scraps)
Bathroom fixtures (toilets, bathtubs, showers, sinks)
Bricks, concrete, and cinder blocks
Large appliances (washing machines, dryers, ovens)
Doors, fencing, and large planks
Trampolines
